Earth as seen from the Sun during the solstices

A side-by-side comparison of the Earth as seen from the Sun during the June 21 and December 21 solstices helps us understand the large seasonal cycle of temperature and length of day/night at high latitudes. In a blog post, I provide separate animations for the June and December solstices, and some nice graphics and text explaining this astronomical phenomenon.
